Where is takeda zen based?
takeda zen is based in the New York area. Our experiences are offered at selected venues and on location throughout New York and New Jersey.

Do you offer private experiences?
Yes. Private experiences are available for individuals, couples, groups, and special occasions. Please contact us to discuss your preferred experience, date, location, and group size.

Do you offer corporate experiences?
Yes. We offer Japanese-inspired cultural and wellness experiences for companies, teams, and organizations. Programs can be tailored depending on the group, location, and occasion.

Can you come to our location?
Depending on the experience, on-location services may be available at offices, hotels, private residences, and event venues throughout New York and New Jersey. Additional travel fees may apply.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

Matcha Meditation Experiences

Public Sessions

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the event are eligible for a full refund.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event are non-refundable.

Tickets may be transferred to another participant with advance notice.

Late Arrivals

To preserve the experience for all participants, doors close 5 minutes after the session begins. Late arrivals may not be admitted and are not eligible for refunds.

No-Shows

Guests who do not attend their scheduled session without prior notice are not eligible for refunds or credits.

Event Cancellation by takeda zen

In the unlikely event that takeda zen must cancel a session, guests will receive either a full refund or the option to reschedule to a future date.


Private & Corporate Experiences

More than 14 days before the event:
Full refund, minus any non-refundable venue, travel, or material costs.

7–14 days before the event:
50% refund.

Less than 7 days before the event:
Non-refundable.

Rescheduling

One complimentary rescheduling request may be accommodated, subject to availability. Additional changes may incur administrative fees.

Clients who do not arrive for their scheduled appointment without prior notice are not eligible for refunds.

Weather Conditions

Kimono, especially silk kimono, can be sensitive to rain and moisture. Depending on weather conditions and the kimono selected, we may recommend adjustments or rescheduling.

In cases of severe weather that may affect safety or travel, alternative arrangements may be offered.

Matcha Meditation

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Please let us know about any allergies or dietary requirements in advance. If food or sweets are included in your session, available accommodations may vary depending on the experience.

Is Matcha Meditation a religious practice?
No. Matcha Meditation is not a religious practice. It is a mindfulness experience inspired by Zen principles, centered on breath, presence, and sensory awareness.

Is the session silent?
Not entirely. The experience is gently guided, with moments of silence woven throughout.

Can I bring children?
The experience is primarily designed for adults. If you wish to bring a child, please contact us in advance to confirm whether the specific session is suitable.

How many people are in one session?
Group sizes vary depending on the venue, but are intentionally kept small to preserve a quiet and intimate atmosphere.

Kimono Rental & Dressing

What is included in the kimono rental package?

Our kimono rental package includes a kimono, obi (sash), undergarments, traditional accessories, and professional dressing service.Optional accessories and premium silk kimono upgrades may be available.

How long does kimono dressing take?

Kimono dressing typically takes 45–60 minutes, depending on the style and package selected.

Do I need to bring anything?

We recommend wearing or bringing a camisole or tank top. All kimono-related dressing items will be provided.

Can I wear a kimono in all seasons?

Yes. We carefully select kimono styles and fabrics appropriate for the season, with consideration for both comfort and traditional seasonal dressing.

Do you provide on-location dressing?

Yes. We can travel to hotels, residences, event venues, and photo shoot locations throughout New York and New Jersey. Additional travel fees may apply depending on location.

Can I bring my own kimono?

Yes. We also offer professional dressing services for clients who already own a kimono. Please contact us in advance with information about your kimono and the occasion.

Do you offer hair styling?

Hair styling may be available depending on the booking. Please inquire in advance for availability and recommendations.

Can I book for one person?

Absolutely. We welcome both individual and group bookings.

Can I take photos while wearing the kimono?

Yes. We encourage you to capture memories of your experience. Please take care during your rental period to avoid activities that may stain or damage the kimono.

What happens if it rains?

Weather conditions may affect what we recommend, particularly for silk kimono. If rain is expected, please contact us so we can discuss the most appropriate option for your rental.

What happens if the kimono is damaged?

Clients are responsible for significant damage beyond normal wear. If any damage or other issue occurs during the rental period, please contact us as soon as possible.

How do I return the kimono?

Rental items may be returned in person or shipped back to us. Return instructions and the required return date will be confirmed with your booking.

How should I care for the kimono after wearing it?

Please follow the care and return instructions provided with your rental.

Do not wash, iron, or attempt to clean the kimono yourself unless specifically instructed by takeda zen.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly during popular spring and autumn periods. Availability of specific kimono may vary.

What sizes are available?

Traditional kimono dressing can accommodate a range of body types. If you have any concerns about sizing or fit, please contact us before booking so we can help select an appropriate option.
