Rooted in kimono, connected by Zen.

“Takeda” was the surname of founder Maria’s great-grandmother.

Her family crest, known as the Takeda-bishi, features a diamond shape that has been passed down through generations.

Today, in New York City, her great-granddaughter wears the kimono left behind by her ancestors — carrying their spirit into the present day.

To honor this legacy, we chose “Takeda” as our company name and incorporated the Takeda-bishi into our logo.

Through the traditional art of kimono, takeda zen is a brand that brings meaning, beauty, and ritual into everyday life.

Just as kimono are worn in layers, we believe life itself is made richer through the many layers of experience, purpose, and connection we cultivate over time.

The overlapping lines within our logo symbolize the layered collar of a kimono — representing depth, harmony, and the quiet elegance found in daily practice.

A tradition carried forward, one layer at a time.

Thank you for supporting takeda zen. We look forward to continuing this journey together.
